Geneva Motor Show 2017 is just around the corner, and we've gathered all the rumours and rumblings in to one place for our Geneva Motor Show Preview.
Audi RS3 Sportback
Audi has revealed that the Audi RS3 Sportback will be getting a refresh in time for a Geneva Motor Show debut. The new model adds 33bhp bringing the 2017 model to 394bhp. This lets the hot hatch hit 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds thanks to the 2.5-litre five-cylinder TFSI engine. Just like it’s Saloon sibling, this model will be driven by a seven-speed dual-clutch S-tronic transmission with Quattro technology.
Volkswagen are betting big on this new luxury car that will replace the Volkswagen CC. In the latest teaser images, we see the front and rear of the Volkswagen Arteon. The designs are similar to the current model Volkswagen CC, so it makes sense for this car to be replacing that model. The Arteon will sit above the Passat in the product range, where the CC previously resided.
Volkswagen say that this new model combines “avant-garde design with a high level of versatility” and this “resulted in an interior architecture which is exceptionally spacious.”
Audi RS5 DTM
Now that Audi has rounded out the A5 range with A5 and S5 Coupes, Sportbacks and Cabriolets – it makes sense for the carmaker to reveal their new RS5 DTM model that they will be using in the upcoming DTM competition. This is a precursor to a customer RS5 model, so it will be getting a lot of attention on the show floor.
Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace
Since the Tiguan Allspace was revealed at the North American International Auto Show, there have been little images or videos of the 7-seater option that the extended wheelbase model will offer. We’re hoping to get a walkaround, and look inside, the family friendly model when we land at the show.
Audi RS3 Saloon
When we were at Paris Motor Show 2016, we got to see the new Audi RS3 Saloon up close, and it didn’t disappoint. Hitting 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 155mph (this can be raised to 174mph on request) this car already proven popular with our customers who can’t wait to place orders. What sets the RS3 Saloon apart from the S3 Saloon is the distinctive front grille and huge sporty exhausts.
When Audi showed off the future of their luxury SUV vehicles in the form of the Audi Q8 concept car, many were taken by surprise as the exterior took on a wide, fierce stance that looks a lot sharper than anything Audi have previously offered along with an all-electric focus and an interior that removes as many buttons as possible, replacing them with touch-screens galore.
We’re hoping to get a hands-on with this concept car at Geneva Motor Show, especially a better look at the new innovations inside the Q8.
Volkswagen Golf 2017 Range
Brand new models, of course, deserve a first outing. Now that orders are flying through for the new Golf range, we’re hoping to get our hands on some of the sportier models such as the refreshed GTD, GTI and R. We also want to see the new Black Rubin paintwork in person, so hopefully VW will have one on show at the event.
Hot on the heels of the second-gen Q5 unveiling at Paris Motor Show 2016, Audi have taken the wraps off a refreshed SQ5 with the S5’s turbocharged V6 petrol engine. The engine on the Audi SQ5 will offer 354bhp with a 0-62mph sprint of just 5.4 seconds. Instead of using a diesel engine like in the previous SQ5 and the SQ7, Audi have opted for the petrol V6 engine to power their sporty SUV.
Although this was already unveiled at the North American International Auto Show, we expect Audi will be eager to show off this new model now that orders are open.
You can order the Audi SQ5 now by clicking here.
Volkswagen I.D. & I.D. Buzz
Volkswagen’s electric vehicles will more than likely be a big talking point for the brand. Expect to see the I.D. and I.D. Buzz electric concepts on the show floor with plenty of attention being focussed on their supposed electric range. We hope that more details will be given on the progress of the Volkswagen MEB platform that their future electric vehicles will be based on.
It wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if Volkswagen revealed a new I.D. model to sit between the I.D. and I.D. Buzz minivan concept.
Audi A5 & S5 Cabriolet
These cars will also be getting the Audi special treatment now that order books are open. With summer fast approaching, the company will be showing off all their new features such as microphones in the seatbelts and the ability to put the top down with the flick of a switch at speeds of up to 31mph.
Italdesign Automobili Speciali
Audi-owned Italdesign have announced that they are going to start producing their own extremely limited edition supercars. Their as-yet-unnamed first car will be on display at Geneva Motor Show as they launch their new car brand, Italdesign Automobili Speciali.
The cars will fetch $1.6 million each, with only five being produced, so being at Geneva is just Italdesign flexing their muscles, and showing that they have what it takes to make people write cheques.
Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ Estate
The tricked out Mercedes-AMG estate has been shown off in pictures and videos by the carmaker, but this will be our chance to get a look at the powerful, but spacious, car in person. We’ll be visiting the Mercedes stand to see all of their limited edition models, but this will be getting a lot of attention from everyone in attendance.
