We sat down with Cutthroatpete to talk about how he got in to barbering, what he loves about his job and what's in store for the Liverpool-based brand.

[vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]We hopped in an Audi A7 and drove in to Liverpool City Centre and met up with Cutthroatpete to talk about how he got into barbering, what he loves about his job and what's in store for the brand. Cutthroatpete, as a brand, was launched in Spring 2013. Pete has been a barber for 12 years. He fell in love with the trade from day one and has thrown everything in to his career up to now. Pete is now working out of his Liverpool City Centre spot, Cutthroatpete's Barber Store.
Hi Pete, thanks for taking the time to talk to us. Can you tell us a bit about yourself. Who are you? What do you do for a living?
I'm Pete, Barber and Brand Owner of Cutthroatpete.
How did you get in to barbering?
I was always interested in becoming a barber at school, but I was putting all of my time into my professional athletics career. At the time, I was part of Team GB for shot put. After school finished, I pursued my athletic career for around two years at international level, but decided I needed a stable career to make ends meet. I found myself in a barbering apprenticeship for a local barber shop, and it all began there.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="3120" img_size="full" css_animation="right-to-left"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width="stretch_row_content_no_spaces"][vc_column][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="3122" img_size="full" css_animation="left-to-right"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]
Your popularity shows your dedication to the brand. What do you like most about your job?
I like the fact that I'm in control of my own time, and I love the creative aspect of the job. I'm very fortunate that I'm able to travel to visit my clientele, which I'm very grateful for. I couldn't picture myself doing an ordinary 9-to-5 job as I love the different opportunities that barbering opens up for me.
Your social media accounts seem to have blown up recently, how did that happen?
I have been a huge fan of social media for a long time. It is fantastic, as a sole trader, to have a free marketing and advertising platform. I owe a good amount of my popularity to Twitter and Instagram. Barbering is very much a word-of-mouth sector, and when people share their experiences on social media their followers remember it. We agree, and social media is a great place to interact directly with your clients. How do you manage your account as well as your day job?
I work on an appointment only basis and allow myself enough time throughout the day to regularly update my social media posts.
On your account we've seen you with famous footballers such as Wayne Rooney and Martin Skrtel. How did you come to meet them?
Word-of-mouth and social media plays a massive part in my client base, but it all started when I cut James Wallace's (EFC at the time) hair. He then recommended a few of the boys to me, and the rest went from there.
What car are you currently driving?
A Mercedes E350 Coupe.
If money was no object, what you would be driving?
A Porsche Carrera 911.
You're based in Liverpool City Centre at the moment. Do you have plans to expand the Cutthroatpete brand outside of Liverpool?
I currently have two shops in Liverpool. My plan is to not saturate the market in our city. I do have future plans for other stores, so watch this space.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="3121" img_size="full" css_animation="top-to-bottom"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width="stretch_row_content_no_spaces"][vc_column][vc_single_image image="3123" img_size="full" alignment="center" css_animation="top-to-bottom"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="3124" img_size="full" css_animation="left-to-right"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]
What is it that you love about Liverpool?
The people. The diversity in culture. The constant development and improvement that is structurally happening around the city.
What does the future hold for Cutthroatpete?
We are planning on launching our blog and YouTube channel later this year as well as some exciting collaborations.
