As expected, Volkswagen unveiled the Passat GT at LA Motor Show and detailed the changes that make this the most aggressive Passat to date. With a 280bhp VR6 engine, we didn’t need much convincing.

More than twenty design changes from the standard Passat mark the GT as a unique, eye-catching saloon. There’s the black honeycomb grille insert with red accent lines that look similar to those found on the VW Golf GTI. Then there’s the unique bumper styling and black window surrounds.

The 19″ Tornado wheels cover red brake callipers, and a lower ride height gives the Passat GT a road-hugging stance. LED headlights and smoked rear lights give this car more character to go along with its new powerful engine.

That power comes from a Volkswagen 3.6 litre FSI VR6 engine that makes 280 bhp. The engine is controlled with a 6-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and shift paddles on the steering wheel.

This car shows that Volkswagen means business in the United States, but we hope to see this car made available in the UK as well.
