With the SEAT Leon Cupra 300, the carmaker is quick to announce that this is the most powerful SEAT road-car ever.

The new model, expected to be available in March 2017, is inching closer to the Volkswagen Golf R in terms of power and now has 296bhp – exactly the same as the current Golf R. The ST estate model also gains four-wheel drive for the first time, whereas the hatchback will keep the front-wheel drive system.

Previously, a spokesperson for SEAT had said that a future hatchback version could include a 4WD option, but only if demand for the ST estate model proved the worth in adding it to the lineup.

SEAT says that the increase in power ‘drastically’ improves the responsiveness of the car, while drivers can change the Drive Profile of the car for different terrain or scenarios. Ultimately, the increased performance should result in a fun driving experience that we know and love in the Cupra range.

The most powerful SEAT road car in the brand’s history.”

Safety features have been improved as well with Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Pedestrian Protection all available on the new Leon Cupra.

The new SEAT Leon Cupra 300 and ST estate models should be available to order early next year - we should get a close up look at these cars at Geneva Motor Show 2017.
