Volkswagen finally revealed their extended Tiguan model at the North American International Auto Show. The new version squeezes seven seats in to the same, popular SUV format with an extended wheelbase thanks to an optional third row configuration. We now know that the new model will be at Geneva Motor Show 2017.
The longer, more spacious Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace also gets a new design with an updated bonnet and grille, which helps to identify to new model as a refreshed look at the family-friendly vehicle. Remember that Volkswagen officials have already said that there will be plenty of new variations of the Tiguan family being revealed soon, and this subtle redesign is likely to be the face of all of them.
This model is also the first car to be revealed since the 2017 Golf announcement that is expected to have the same, all-new infotainment system on board. New driver assistance systems will ensure the best safety measures are in place for the safety of drivers and passengers, while also increasing driver comfort. Whether the subtle design changes, and new technology, is enough to win the crowds is unclear, but offering a seven-seat option in the Tiguan range is a smart move on VW’s part.
It’s unclear what specifications will be available in the UK when it launches here, but Volkswagen have said that petrol and diesel models will be options at launch elsewhere, along with front or all-wheel drive variations.
