Looking back at 2016, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders revealed that more than 20% of people opted to have their car in white paint. Will that be the same in 2017?

Although white cars were still the top colour, demand for them dropped by 2%. This is the first time since 2005 that demand for white cars has slipped back, so it’s possible that people have started looking at different colour options when ordering cars.

Naturally, the second most popular colour was black. This is likely due to the fact that most manufacturers offer white and black colour options as standard with no extra cost.

Where demand for white cars dropped by 2%, the demand for black cars rose by 6%. This could mean that 2017 will be the year of the black cars.

In England alone, black was the most popular car colour, but in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, white was the most popular.

Although white paint was statistically the top colour in 2016, it's starting to slip and give way to black for 2017. What colour would you choose?
