We look at what paint options are available for the new 2018 Golf R, Golf GTI and Golf GTD - including prices for each shade. If you're looking at getting one of these cars, this is the first place you should look.
The new 2018 Golf range shows off plenty of options as it has in previous generations, but the colours aren’t exactly the same as last time around, so this is a good place to start looking if you aren’t sure which colour you want your car to be when you place your order. Take a look below to see what colours you can get on this car. Note that all colours shown here are matched as accurately as possible, however Volkswagen can’t guarantee that colours shown are 100% accurate.
Solid Paint – £0
Ruby Black (GTD and GTI only)
Only available on the new Golf GTD and Golf GTI, this all-new black paint option has a maroon hint to it that differentiates the new models from the last generation. It is an excellent choice for someone looking for a stylish, but classy colour that is sophisticated and smart. It is a reserved colour choice that goes particularly well with the GTI’s red stripe design across the front grille. Black cars might be on the rise, but this standard colour option on the 2018 Golf GTD and 2018 Golf GTI will likely become a popular choice for Golf enthusiasts.
Pure White (Free on Golf R only)
The standard colour on the 2018 Golf R is this sharp Pure White paint. It is a simple colour that lets the car’s performance do the talking. The solid colour makes the metallic features of the Golf R pop, and makes the new front bumper design stand out. White is always a popular colour and now that it’s the standard colour on the R model, it will likely become a top choice for performance Golf owners.
Solid Paint – £280
This is a popular colour choice for Golf GTI owners, but available on the GTD and R models as well. If you’re expecting to get a lot of mud on your car, this should extend the time you need between each car wash.
Pure White (GTD and GTI only)
This solid plain colour makes the metallic features of the car stand out. It makes the front bumper design stand out as well as the front grille and alloys. White is always a popular colour, but if you’re looking to pay for your paintwork, you may prefer to fork out a bit more on a metallic paint option.
Metallic Paint – £570
Atlantic Blue is certainly one of the most colourful metallic paint options, so this would be a good choice for someone looking to make their new car stand out in a crowd. However, if you’re looking for bright and vibrant colours there is only really Tornado Red for all the models, with Lapiz Blue as an option for the Golf R only.
One of the nicest greys available on the Volkswagen range of vehicles, Indium Grey is available on all models and is a good choice for someone who wants to keep any wear and tear visibility to a minimum as well as hide dirt for a long time. A good choice for a long distance commuter.
Isaac Blue (GTD and GTI only)
Isaac Blue is almost grey with a light blue tint to give your car a unique colour that is just different enough to be contrasting next to other grey paint options on the market. Although this is a darker colour option, it makes the alloys of the car seem to shine brighter.
This subtle, but attractive silver paint accentuates the black bumper details and black grille. When the headlights are on, the cars look special with this paint. It makes the red details of the 2018 Golf GTI easy to identify, but it may be a reserved choice for the Golf R.
Pearl Effect Paint – £570
The only black paint option on the three cars is this pearl effect Deep Black. It gives each of the cars an almost business-like shroud that hides even the Golf GTI’s sportiness. This would be a good choice for someone who was looking at the Golf range for a business car.
Metallic Paint – £630
Lapiz Blue (Golf R only)
Only available on the Golf R, this is the second-brightest colour available after Tornado Red. Although it does make the upgraded R model look powerful, the dark metallic blue makes the silver wing mirrors look unique. It will hide dirt for a short time, and will be the only colour that is unique to the new 2018 Golf R.
Special Paint – £990
Reflective flecks in the Oryx White special paint makes the whole car look bright even in low-light situations. Perfectly suited to the new bumper designs as well as the red features of the Golf GTI, this colour might even become a favourite if the price doesn’t deter people from ordering it.
