The Popular Nissan Juke Gets Some Upgrades For 2024

For its mid-life update, Nissan's team of designers and engineers have executed notable modifications to the Juke's interior, including a redesigned central console and instrument panel, aimed at enhancing the overall onboard experience.

The interior enhancements extend to new materials, trims, and improved fit and finish, enriching the cabin environment. Furthermore, the car's connectivity has been modernized with a larger touchscreen and supplementary features.

The mid-life refresh also introduces a new trim level dubbed N-Sport, which accentuates the Juke's dynamic attributes through exterior and interior enhancements.

Nissan is also reintroducing a yellow exterior paint option for its Juke urban crossover, echoing its popularity from the first-generation Juke. This updated yellow hue, slightly lighter than the original, delivers a contemporary and impactful aesthetic.

In the new N-Sport variant, the visual impact is intensified by the contrast between the yellow body and the black roof, wheels, door mirrors, wheel arch inserts, grille, and A- and B-pillars.

This combination enhances the Juke's inherent visual appeal, injecting an additional dose of confidence and character.

Within the cabin, the initial difference discerned by existing patrons as they settle into the driver's seat is the expanded dimensions of the central infotainment screen.

Enhanced interior features, functions and connectivity

Now spanning 12.3 inches from corner to corner, it has been tilted towards the driver by 8 degrees, bringing touch controls within comfortable reach while augmenting the cockpit ambience cherished by Juke enthusiasts.

As drivers acquaint themselves with the cockpit, they'll find the new, smoother leather-like material adorning N-Connecta models, boasting a cleaner appearance and a more gratifying tactile experience.

Moving beyond the steering wheel, the combimeter—housing the speedometer and other vital metrics—has evolved into a 12.3-inch digital TFT screen on N-Connecta and higher trims.

With a high-resolution display (1920 x 720 pixels), drivers can personalize the layout to suit their preferences.

The combimeter's appearance can toggle between two distinct layouts. The classic configuration features two dials with additional information in the central space.

Alternatively, the "enhanced" layout showcases road speed and engine speed on inclined dials, providing a three-dimensional perspective and allowing for a larger central display area for supplementary data.

Between the dials, drivers can access navigation directions, fuel economy, audio details, eco-drive performance, tyre pressures, and other essential information. Conveniently, the controls for the display are situated on the steering wheel.

The upgraded infotainment system boasts a more user-friendly home screen, enabling customization with frequently used "widgets," akin to smartphone home screens.

Furthermore, enhanced voice recognition and "natural language understanding" capabilities broaden the system's command repertoire, disregarding hesitations or pauses. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionalities are now available too.

Additional features include speed camera alerts and fuel price updates integrated into the navigation map, while the infotainment system can now playback video content from USB-connected devices when the vehicle is stationary.

Introducing new N-Sport model for 2024

Mirroring the striking exterior yellow addition, the N-Sport interior showcases a corresponding yellow highlight in a boomerang shape, spanning the top of the instrument panel before curving down to outline the base of the new central infotainment screen and terminating at the air vents.

Continuing the attention-grabbing theme, the N-Sport seats feature yellow recycled Alcantara inserts, harmonizing with the fresh exterior paint. These inserts adorn the top outer section of the seat, intersecting the centre at the side bolsters.

The seat base and backrest boast a distinctive quilted pattern, with "Juke" embossed at shoulder height on the backrest, while yellow stitching adds to the bold aesthetic.

More versatile and convenient interior features

Furthermore, enhanced comfort awaits with the introduction of new seats. The N-Connecta variant boasts seats upholstered in a novel fabric named Kira Melange, crafted from PVC with fabric accents complementing roller-patterned inserts.

In the Tekna models, seats are upholstered in black PVC with PVC accents and feature quilted-effect inserts on the base and backrest. The sporty interior ambience is further accentuated by a black piano finisher lining the seat aperture behind the passengers' heads.

Further alterations to the exterior colour choices include the introduction of a new Pearl White option, featuring increased metallic flakes to enhance its pearlescent effect.

Similarly, the new Pearl Black receives a revamped formula, resulting in a richer and darker hue. This enhancement involves a higher concentration of carbon black pigment and the substitution of metallic flakes with glass flakes, imparting a heightened sparkle.

Fresh wheel trim options are now on offer across the top three grades of the Juke range. The standard wheels for N-Connecta and Tekna+ models feature a brand-new five-spoke design, with each grade sporting a distinct technical and angular appearance.

A new low-resistance rolling tyre variant is available for the 17-inch wheel option, specifically offered on the Hybrid version within the Acenta Premium and N-Connecta grades.

Improved driver assistance technology

With the Juke update comes the inclusion of Intelligent Driver Alertness as standard. Lane Keep Assist is an optional feature, standard on Tekna grade and above.

This system monitors the vehicle's position within the lane, emitting a steering wheel vibration if it approaches the lane boundary defined by white lines. In the absence of corrective action, the system intervenes to maintain the vehicle's trajectory within the lane.

Utilizing the high-definition central screen, the resolution of the rear-view camera has been upgraded from 0.3 to 1.3 megapixels. This enhancement ensures reversing manoeuvres can be executed with greater confidence, particularly in low-light conditions.

The rear-view camera is now standard across all Juke grades, while the Around-View Monitor—providing a bird's-eye view of the car's position for parking—becomes available from the N-Connecta grade upwards (standard on Tekna).

In the event of sudden and unexpected braking from the vehicle ahead, the brake lights will now flash to alert following drivers.

Simple powertrain line-up remains the same for ease of mind

The Juke comes equipped with two powertrain options. The electrified choice is the Juke Hybrid, now accessible from Acenta Premium specification (formerly from N-Connecta upwards).

This variant comprises a Nissan internal combustion engine specifically engineered for hybrid powertrain application, delivering 69kW (94hp) and 148Nm of torque.

On the electric front, the primary electric motor generates 36kW (49hp) and 205Nm of torque, complemented by a 15kW high-voltage starter/generator operating through an inverter and a 1.2kWh liquid-cooled battery.

As a result, this powertrain offers 25% more power (143ps vs 114ps) than the current petrol engine option, along with a fuel consumption reduction of up to 37% in urban cycles and up to 20% over combined cycles (DCT Tekna+ vs Hybrid Tekna+).

Under the bonnet of the non-electrified engine option for the Juke lies an efficient 1.0-litre three-cylinder DIG-T turbocharged petrol engine. Compact and lightweight, it endows the Juke with the engaging driving dynamics owners anticipate.

Generating 114PS and 180Nm of torque (200Nm with over-torque function), it's available with a lively 6-speed manual or sporty 7-speed dual-clutch (DCT) paddle-shift transmission.

Coupled with a driving mode selector (Eco, Standard, Sport), drivers can effortlessly tailor their driving experience to any road condition, ensuring maximum enjoyment behind the wheel.
